Diatribes (d'incise and Cyril Bondi), the Geneva based duo, continues their exploration of simplification and rational rituality, and presents a work tighted together by strict sonic or structural principles. Highly detailed textures, repeated gestures, soft tones, febrile pulses and acoustic hyper-sensibility.
The duo, two improvisors working as complementarity since 2004, after a voracious youth exploring free jazz, noise, musique concrête and free improv, and many collaborations with international musicians such as Magda Mayas, Bertrand Gauguet, Robin Hayward, Dominic Lash, Partick Farmer, Derek Shirley and Hannah Marshall, Barry Guy, Keith Rowe, amongst others, has chosen to focus on a rather introverted process of creation. During the past year they have inte! nsely toured across Europe, in Japan, South America, India, etc .
Jean-Luc Guionnet
"My musical work subdivides itself into as many ways as occasions arise for me to think and act with sound and forms. Those occasions have always to do with a strong meeting with an outside element : an instrument (saxophone/organ), a theoretical idea (what is "rumour"?), and mainly a collaborating friend (Lotus Edde Khouri, Éric La Casa, Thomas Bonvalet, Seijiro Murayama) ... or the long term adventure of a team (Hubbub, Ames Room, Jupiter Terminus ...). There then follows a collection of themes which, in turn, influence the evolution of the musical work and define the direction of meetings to come: the thickness of the air, the pidgin, the musical instrument considered as affective automaton, sound as a signature of space, signature of objects, signature of what it is not... The coming emotion is made out of all these strata and the sliding of one over the other during the act of listening. When music is giving time."
Zhao Ziyi was born in Beijing in 2007. He possesses a simple sound and a difficult-to-use body. In 2025, he released his debut solo CD album Sorry (Sub Jam). Also in the same year, his duo project "Nichijo" with Yang Kuku (from Ghostmass) released the double-cassette album One, Two (Sub Jam) and the full-length album The cheapest Japanese cuisine in the World (Zoomin’ Night).
Beginning in 2023, he has organized the annual You and Me Festival in Beijing every summer. In 2024, he co-founded the venue xiaozu, an exceptionally small, multifaceted space located in central Beijing.
These creations are solitary, simple, and self-harming.
[grace+alex] is a new duo by artists and multi instrumentalists Grace Black (Mosquito Farm) and Alex McKenzie (Gentle Stranger, Shovel Dance Collective, caroline, and others).
Agata Genissel perforates sound, producing disembodied sonic environments. Working with texture, density and materiality, her practice unfolds through unresolved exploration. She is based in London.
