It is an unholy inversion
An infernal spin on truth
Of the three black mothers, women of the cloth
Mothers three, a twist on fate
A break of truth
The father’s of lies
Tellers of deceipt
Brothers of War
Angels of mistrust
Unholy Trinity
Are the men who walk this earth
Faces of alabaster
Hearts of stone,
The liars delight
For them unfold
Father of Lies is a film and performance based installation created by Filmmaker and artist Folu Odimayo. The work that looks at the mainstream media and it’s role within the facilitation of the Genocides particularly in Palestine, it’s enabling of war and conflicts across the last century as well as it’s position in creating divisions within society.
Explored within a sound collage that oscillates between archival news, political soundbites from now up till the 1930s as well as a conversation between a journalist and a newspaper editor about journalistic impartiality. The work looks at unravelling the threads of what the news has become, who it truly serves and who’s voice it really speaks to and from.
