African American Sound Recordings is a drone/hypnagogic pop side project of Memphis rapper and producer Gavin Mays, who is perhaps best known for his work as Cities Aviv. Prior to his career as a rapper, Mays was the lead singer of Memphis-based hardcore punk band Copwatch.
