An evening of music, performance, film and drag with Mikey Kirkpatrick, Jackson Burton, Nicholas McArthur & Mercedes Benz 1999.

Tickets: £8-12
Mikey Kirkpatrick is a flautist, singer, improviser and performer creating sonic rituals for stage, street, film and airwaves around the world.
Jackson Burton works with scores, text pieces and action-based performances. Recent output has included performances at Cafe OTO, The Fruit Market Edinburgh and Hundred Years Gallery, and a recent release on Infant Tree in 2023 with Adam Bohman, Sophie Sleigh-Johnson and Sue Lynch and a live solo LP on OTORoku.
Nicholas McArthur presents Suspended Animation - a new work that unfolds like a television broadcast having a nervous breakdown. It sliding between soap opera, musical theatre, and AI-fuelled drama. Nicholas McArthur’s solo performance traps its characters in cycles of repetition, spectacle, and emotional paralysis. Songs unravel. Language loops and decays. Audience participation turns awkwardly coercive. Beneath the absurd humour and artificial gloss is a portrait of contemporary life caught in stasis — unable to move forward, unable to stop performing!
Nicholas McArthur is a visual artist based in London and Sofia, Bulgaria. His work explores strange objects and weird environments, often brought to life through performance. His performances are experimental and immersive, combining musical theatre-style singing, audience participation and storytelling to create disorienting, often absurd situations. Through the use of persona, movement, and props, McArthur constructs fragmented narratives that blur the line between reality and fiction. McArthur is also a lecturer at the University of the Creative Arts and Oxford Brookes University.
Strange Loop will be hosted by the one and only Nelly Ben-Hayoun Stépanien as their drag king alterego Mercedes Benz 1999, informed by their years working to decolonize the space industry. This post-human, "neon blood" character is designed as a critique of tech-bro toxicity, while poking fun at cars, father figures, and extraterrestrials...
