Brought together during a volcanic discharge of global proportions to compose and record in a remote music studio on the Isle Of Jura, that issued forth the extraordinary 'Eruption Day' CD/EP, this line up sees the melding of musicians and artists renowned for their adventures in the worlds of somic exploration and improvisation. Michael ray has been at the molten core of the Sun Ra Arkestra for most of 4 decades, his vocal and trumpet skills contributing to the soul and lycism of one of the greatest jazz orchestras in history. Echo City, are the UK's original sonic warriors, first coming together in the 1980's to build giant musical instruments that they call sonic playgrounds. Pioneering the movement that is now sometimes called 'junk percussion' but which barely gives credit to the architectural beauty and modernity of Echo City's sculptural work, the collective has been an innovative and original force in concert improvisation, participatory performance and acoustic mischief all the way through. This is the great EC line up of Evans, Perring, Shearsmith, Mills and Farrington, and it's a unique opportunity to see the UK's finest harmonic metallurgists and plasticians meet the space travelling artistry of Philadelphia jazz avant garde.
