'AN EVENING WITH AMORY PEART'

From gay skinheads to hirsute 'bears'; food fetishising lesbian dominatrixes to Mancunian rent boys undergoing 'enforced feminisation'; and, most recently, a lavish biopic of much-loved Prime Minister Aggie Snatcher, The Iron Lady Garden; the gleefully subversive, award winning, queer porn of British director Amory Peart has been teasing at boundaries for over two decades.
We are delighted to welcome Amory to discuss his long and fascinating career in adult film and video, from setting up the Pout Collective in the early 1990s and his involvement with direct action group Outrage!; through the making of his anarchic, trans feature, Piccadilly Pickups, starring Alexis Arquette; to bringing the spectrum of 21st century sexuality into the homes of 3 million viewers in candid documentary series Digital Sex and Future Sex on Channel 4; and his recent emphasis on witty, well-observed XXX parodies of mainstream movies for straight male and couples audiences.
Amory has said of his work, "My urge was to represent all those people - like myself - who were left out of the porno I had seen. I felt the desire to twist every film I came across, because I believe our sexual minds are the most twisted and unconventional part of our thoughts. There is no restriction to our sexual fantasies, no political correctness, and as long as my films concern anything over the age of consent and mutually consensual sex, it's valid."
This outrageous evening of polymorphous pleasure will be richly illustrated with early shorts and rare clips from features, as well as excerpts from Amory's recent work, as he explains how he pioneered niches such a 'suit' porn, made Britain's first 'bear' movie and how he approaches turning Hollywood blockbusters into what he terms "queer heterosexual porn spoofs".
