Brown paper bags at the ready! The Museum of Sex Objects will be revealing its secrets at The Horse Hospital from Friday September 2nd.

The Museum straddles the boundary between art, fiction, and history, tracing our sexual past via the many clues locked away in institutions or even hidden under beds. In more tolerant times, it is easy to forget that the struggle for sexual freedom came at such a cost to countless individuals. The Museum’s purpose is to scratch the surface, peel back some layers and bring history’s blind spots into the light.

As part of the installation's month-long run, The Keeper will take pilgrims on a curious journey of forgotten sexual folktales within the walls of the Museum of Sex Objects.

The Keeper will guide you safely along the museum's cobbled pathways, discovering its origins with Lady Sexburga, on to the Fallen Sisterhood's tragic tales and the perilous passions of the Haunted Feminine.

She brings to life the peccadilloes of the people celebrated in Ode to Perversion.

Experience clandestine meetings in A Space of Peril, exploring how dangerous public spaces were for gay men – from the 18th Century Molly Houses to Cottaging in the public toilets of the 20th Century.

Tours are available Wednesday to Sunday at 2pm sharp, with additional tours at 4.30pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Tours take approximately one hour, though you are welcome to tarry longer and take in the objects - sacred and profane - at your leisure.

Book your place via the link above - please note that participation in the tours is restricted to over 16s only. The Keeper's tour is free, but donations to the Museum - a non-profit organisation - are gratefully received.

Personal tours are available upon request via The Keeper's Office: thekeeper@museumofsexobjects.co.uk.
