kill ur darlings...lazy affair

An exhibition of work by Alice Fraser

Opening Event: Saturday 15th July

Closing event: Friday 21st July

The exhibition will run until Friday 21st July. Open Tuesday-Friday, 12pm-6pm.

Infused with romance and succumbing to its shortcomings, Alice’s work speaks of the isolation of romance and its mirages, searching for clues, answers, pointers or frameworks to lay rest. The paintings hyperbolically question and answer, with the same je ne sais quoi as a lazy affair, like laissez faire, are they seeing each other? Their vulnerability is thrown off by the arrogance of their shabby and colloquial style. It is as if the paintings take on their own get out of jail free card, unclear whether the rebel psyche played out is being avoidant or is somewhat omniscient. Her first solo show is a hedonistic self-indulgence, adorned and hosted by canapé ladies. Obviously if you look in the mirror your going to see your own reflection...
