Julien Gasc has established himself over the decades as a singular voice of French psychedelic rock, combining melodic elegance, surrealist poetry and sonic experimentation. A talented multi-instrumentalist, he is best known for his solo work, as well as for his founding and participation in the free rock far out jazz experimental pop band Aquaserge. Gasc joined Stereolab as keyboardist and backing vocals for their world tour in 2008-2009. In 2026, Julien returns with his fifth full length Perles, coraux & requins’ recorded and produced by Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre). On this night, he is joined by vocalist Enid Valu, lately featured with The Notwist, Embryo, ADA, and Nathaniel Russell, as well as being behind the camera at concerts for 20+ plus years.
Charles Bullen treats us to an improvised solo set of dulcimer and prepared guitar. Superspeed hammers, looped rythms and muted, and buzzed out notes point to the distant and chilled out spaces that exist on their own eerie shelf. Bullen was a member of timeless pre/post-everything trio This Heat. He formed the improvising duo Dolphin Logic with Charles Hayward, which later, with the addition of “non-musician” Gareth Williams, became This Heat. After releasing two seminal albums the band split in 1982 and Bullen made an album the following year under the name Lifetones focusing on repetition and a more syncopated dub influenced sound.
Enid Valu has been a concert photographer for 20 years. Originally from Charlotte NC, she’s now based in Munich. A few years in the shoegaze band Cement Stars, featured with Miami Dice, an EP in 2024 with Hochzeitskapelle on Alien Transistor. Singing spots on the upcoming albums with The Nowist, Ada & The Alien Orchestra, Julien Gasc, and Embryo.
