CLOWN: It’s a serious business being funny’

This short stylised documentary produced and directed by Shane O’Neill, looks behind the greasepaint at the thrills and the spills of being a clown.

Mattie Faint aka. Mattie the Clown has spent his whole life working in show business, starting off in the West End on such shows as Hair and the Rocky Horror Show, taking them both to Lesotho in Southern Africa and Rocky Horror to Japan twice.

Mattie started clowning in 1971 and it’s been part of his life ever since, taking him all over the world. Since ‘86 he’s been the archivist for Clowns International and the curator of the Clowns’ Gallery-Museum.
