“Like a labyrinth from above: beautiful to look at, knowing that you would never find your way out.”

Delightfully puzzling and playfully unique, director and video installation artist Daniel Cockburn’s meta-fictional ode to human consciousness is truly Borgesian in its ability to capture the spirit of human complexity and distil it into a wonderfully enthralling slice of subversive storytelling.

Part experimental gallery film and part philosophical sketch comedy, YOU ARE HERE splices together theories, dramatisations and ruminations on elusive subjects such as memory, language, perception and time in the most unpredictable of ways. Come for the existential dread – stay for the dizzying head rush.

The film will be followed by a short Q&A with director Daniel Cockburn in which he will discuss the film and the influence of Jorge Luis Borges on his work.

You Are Here is screening as part of the curated film season ‘A Cinema of Forking Paths – Films Inspired by Borges’ in collaboration with the National Film and Television School.
