In Paul Tickell’s 2000 film Christie Malry’s Own Double Entry, the protagonist Christie Malry (Nick Moran) is an alienated man who applies the principles of double-entry accounting to justify his descent into terrorism. Adapted from the cult novel by BS Johnson, the film is a brilliantly subversive black British comedy that includes ornate flashbacks to the Italian 16th century creator of double-entry bookkeeping and a compelling soundtrack by Luke Haines of The Auteurs and Black Box Recorder fame. Shirley Anne Field puts in a wonderful cameo too as Christie's mother

Directed by Paul Tickell (Punk and the Pistols) and released in the autumn of 2000, the film was effectively cancelled in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and to this day remains rarely screened. Catch this neglected cinematic masterpiece and hear director Tickell and soundtrack composer Luke Haines in conversation with the author Travis Elborough.

Luke Haines will also be signing copies of his magnificent new book Freaks Out! Weirdos, Misfits and Deviants – The Rise and Fall of Righteous Rock ’n’ Roll on the night (to pre-order a copy, select option at ticket check-out)
