Performed by cellist Martin McCarrick (This Mortal Coil, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Therapy) & violinist Kimberlee McCarrick, & with influence ranging from Shostakovich to the Aphex Twin, this special performance combines their dark & evocative music with specially made, stunning visual imagery. It's art-meets-music - unique & personal. The McCarricks perform 'Music from The Third Floor' to films by PG Logo, Miki Takahashi, Pil & Galia Kollectiv, Jo Ueno, Diana and Archie Bennett, alongside the UK premiere of:

This macabre 1922 masterpiece stands as the most extreme and controversial work of silent cinema - and one of the most visionary: a work of obsession created in mysterious circumstances. Note: We will be showing the shorter 1967 "Sound" version of the film, with narration by William Burroughs and soundtrack by Jean-Luc Ponty and Daniel Humair.

The effects of Drugs on American Cinema
A carefully selected series of rare shorts, clips, trailers & outtakes including scenes from Marijuana-Weed With Roots in Hell. Drug-film hysteria from the amazing 1916 slapstick drug comedy, MYSTERY OF THE LEAPING FISH to 30's dance performances like THAT OLD REEFER MAN and SWEET MARIJUANA and 50's scare films like THE PUSHER. The second half quickly turns into a psychedelic meltdown as classic scenes from LSD - TRIP TO WHERE, LSD CASE STUDY and the underground film ROCKFLOW turn your mind inside out. The finale is provided by 14 year old Debbie Winters who freaks her parents out in scenes from 1970's THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR.

Dixon of Dock Green star Jack Warner stars in this post-war 'how to' comedy about the seaside holiday camp. Pitched as a plug for Butlins-style breaks, this is actually a good deal darker and funnier than that, with murder, card sharps, suicide and war-blinded lovers all making the cut. Look out for a jailbait Diana Dors getting down in an early (uncredited) screen appearance. Cheerful Charlie Chester leads the singalong and perennial 'ugly' Esma Cannon plays a maneater.

Anderson's first Free Cinema documentary is a trawl through the working class charabang trip to Margate's amUSEment park, only Anderson seems more scared and sneering than amused. Proof that those laughing dolls in glass cases are creepy, as if you needed it.
