The Silent Twins
Legendary 1985 BBC dramatisation of the life of the Gibbons sisters, black proto-hikikomori twins from Wales whose unnaturally close bond led to the virtual exclusion of the outside world and their eventual imprisonment in Broadmoor at the age of 19 following a spree of petty crime and arson. Terrific performances and narration taken from the girl’s own journals and writings reveal the vivid creativity that flourished in their self-imposed isolation and make this much more than just a Welsh ‘Heavenly Creatures’.

Although the film concludes with their incarceration, subsequent events were at least as extraordinary. The twins stayed in Broadmoor for almost a decade and eventually concluded that only the death of one would allow the normal life of the other. The day of their release, Jennifer Gibbons collapsed and died of a virulent and still unexplained inflammation of the heart.

Jimmy Scott: If You Only Knew ( documentary )
Influencing such greats as Marvin Gaye, performing with Quincy Jones, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, singing for David Lynch, yet Jimmy Scott remains one of the world's biggest underground figures. This brilliant and heartrending documentary charts the life of one of the world's true originals, Jimmy Scott, voice of God. Don't wear mascara, it'll run.

Model Citizen is a society for art and similar provocation, producing projects within lens, text and sound based practice as either single artist work or in collaboration - incorporating both visual and philosophical originality. Principal project The Eston Grange Gallery opens this September, central London.
