One of the things that really separates us from other galleries / spaces is that we arent ARTS ADMINISTRATORS. The energy and excitement that we feel for our own projects feeds back into The Horse Hospital as a whole, and means that we can understand from both a personal and professional level where our artists, filmmakers and musicians are coming from. It's all intersubjective here, there is no difference...
There are four key people involved with The Horse Hospital on a day to day basis:
Roger K. Burton is basically the Don. He leases the building, oversees the gallery and it is his work as a costume/production designer and with his Contemporary Wardrobe Collection (Street Fashion 1945 - 2008) which provides the principal revenue streams for the building.

Over the past 15 years Roger has worked very closely with Kate Forbes, who is one of the Horse Hospital originators, at The Contemporary Wardrobe. Kate is now one of the top stylists in the country. Both Roger and Kate are key figures in the current pre-production of the feature film Bluetown directed by Brian Griffin

James B.L. Hollands joined in 2000. He met The Horse Hospital when they supported and screened his film Sweet made in conjunction with Jim Beresford, and formed a mutually beneficial working friendship with the then curator of the gallery, Ian White. After Ian left to run the Lux Cinema, James slipped into the position via osmosis. He is the public front of the place, and operates the day to day running of the gallery as well as curating the film programmes, the events and exhibitions.

Heather Bull runs the Contemporary Wardrobe on a day to day basis, is heavily involved with the very great Octopad Studios and Um Records in Stoke Newington, works as a stylist in her own right and is co-creator with Jo Jacobs of our infamous and deeply difficult POP QUIZ.
